SKIN CANCER MANAGEMENT AND RECONSTRUCTION

Skin cancer surgery entails the resection of the lesion with a clear margin.

Frozen sections are done in theatre by a histopathologist. This minimise the amount of tissue that needs to be removed. Most importantly frozen sections confirm the complete removal of the tumor prior to reconstruction. Flap reconstruction (the use of adjacent tissue) or skin grafts might be required. The result of your reconstruction will improve with time as scars heal and fade.
